How to Navigate How to be Websmart
There are five things you need to know about navigating How to be Websmart:
1. Getting Around
There are two ways you can find articles on our site. The first is by using the menu bar on the far right. Each menu button represents a category. When you open a category page, you will see a Subpages menu in the middle of the page. Under the Subpages menu, articles are listed on the category. Click on any article title to read that article.
The other way you can get around our site is by using our search box. Type in whatever you are looking for and then wait…if your browser is advanced enough, the results of articles should show up automatically. If no immediate results show up, click ‘enter’ and a results page will emerge. Click on any article title to read that article.
When you are reading an article, the Subpages menu for that category and the menu bar will both be available to the right of the text of the article.
Please don’t forget: since we have made a conscious choice to put very few ads on our site, our most important source of revenue is you. If you like our articles, please click consider donating via PayPal. It means a lot to us.
2. Bookmark
Bookmarking is a way you can save the location of an article in your browser, and easily access it later. You probably won’t need to bookmark a lot of articles, but there may be a couple you want to use more than once (like our How to Shop at). For example, if you shop at Amazon.com a lot, instead of going to Amazon.com, just go straight to our How to Shop at Amazon article, taking a couple extra seconds to follow our strategy, and hopefully you will save some money.
To bookmark a page, click on the bookmarks or favorites menu (or similar option) in your browser. You will see an option that says something like Add to bookmarks or Add to Favorites (again, or similar text, depending on your browser). Select that option and follow any additional instructions your browser has.
Then, next time you want to to return to that article, visit your bookmarks and you will be taken straight to that article. That’s it!
3. Comments
Say we write an article, and you have something to offer the community. It could just be a personal remark or a suggestion on how to improve the strategy, or a totally new idea on how to use the web to improve people’s lives. We would love to hear it.
At the bottom of every article, you will see an Add your own comment blue link or a ‘X’ Comments link (X being the number of comments already added to the article). Click on either of those links, fill in a name and email address (we suggest using a registration email) and leave a comment.
We ask for people’s names and emails to prevent our site from being spammed with spam comments (like people trying to promote a product) that don’t help anyone.
To see what other people have commented on, click on the ‘X’ Comments or Show Inline links at the bottom of articles - you should be able to view the available comments there.
We have a strict policy of moderating the comments on our website - we only allow ‘appropriate’ comments on our site. You should know this. Basically, we don’t want people to spam our website. We allow most comments - but we do leave what comments are allowed on the site to our discretion.
4. Share
Okay, click on this article here (it should open on a new window) and scroll down. You see those funny little buttons? Each one of those buttons links to social bookmarking sites and other ’sharing’ sites.
Basically, what these sites offer are ways to share interesting links or webpages with other internet users. Each button links to a different social bookmarking or sharing site. By clicking on a button, you refer the page to other people who are affiliated with the site. Hence ’social bookmarking’ - people bookmarking interesting content for other internet users.
All of these databases are free, but you need to be a member to use these sites. If you are interested in joining we suggest using a registration email. Then, every time you see a How to be Websmart article you like and want to share, you can click on the appropriate button for a particular site.
We’d appreciate it. You see, if you share an article with other users, it means we are doing a good job. Also, it drives more people to our site, and helps us grow How to be Websmart. Plus, you may find these communities as easy yet powerful ways to discover different things on the web.
5. Email and RSS
Let’s say you’ve read everything that How to be Websmart has to offer, but don’t want to keep coming back to the website to see when we have written an article/post. We understand, and have got you covered.
Every time an article is written, you can make sure you receive a copy of it via email by subscribing to our Mailing List.
You can also receive an update of our articles through RSS by clicking on any of the RSS buttons available on the right. To learn more about RSS and how it can make reading information sources a lot easier and time efficient for you, read our article entitled How to Read the News Better.

I took the time to comment because I like what I’ve seen of your site, and a video on YOUTUBE.
