Kesav Mohan (Founder)

Kesav graduated magna cum laude from Duke University with a self-designed major in Global Justice. At Duke, Kesav co-founded Duke Moot Court and the Center for Race Relations. In 2004, he was awarded the George J. Mitchell Scholarship, on which he completed his MA in International Relations at Dublin City University. In 2005, he received the Enterprising Leadership Fellowship for a self-designed proposal to engage with social entrepreneurs around the world. On the fellowship, he worked with innovative social entrepreneurship organizations in Caracas, Venezuela; El Paso, Texas; Dublin, Ireland; Dubai, UAE; and Ottawa, Canada. It was largely while traveling on this fellowship that Kesav came up with the idea for How to be Websmart.

He will enter Duke Law School in Fall 2006.

Smith Lilley

Smith earned his BA summa cum laude from Mississippi State University in 2004 with a major in political science and minors in economics and aerospace studies. At State, he led the University Honors Council, served as secretary-general of the Mississippi Model Security Council, founded a speech and debate association, led the cadet corps of his ROTC unit, and volunteered as a youth counselor at his local church. Smith was named MSU’s most outstanding honors student in 2003 and top ROTC graduate in 2004. In 2004 Smith was awarded the George J. Mitchell Scholarship, through which he earned his MA in International Studies from the University of Limerick in Ireland.

Smith is currently serving as an officer in the US military. In his spare time he enjoys running, playing guitar, and reading–particularly about politics and Christian spirituality and theology. He is also slogging his way through Rosetta Stone Hebrew lessons.

Anthony Vitarelli

Anthony graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Duke University in 2005 with a BA in Public Policy and Economics. At Duke, Anthony served as the President of Campus Council, Duke’s residential student governance organization, and co-founded the Duke University Greening Initiative. In 2004, Anthony was awarded a Truman Scholarship. Recently, Anthony was elected as the Class of 2005’s Young Trustee and is currently serving a three-year term on Duke University’s Board of Trustees. In 2005, he received the Enterprising Leadership Fellowship to work for Accion Emprendedora, a microfinance non-profit firm that helps poor entrepreneurs start small businesses. In his work, he splits his time between Santiago, Chile and Washington, DC.

He will enter Yale Law School in Fall 2006.

Tom Kuhn

Tom graduated from Duke University in 2004 with a BA in History and Public Policy Studies. At Duke, Tom served as the president of a co-ed selective living group and was an active member of the Duke Sailing Team and played as many intramural sports as he could when not in the library. While a Duke Student, Tom spent his summers teaching sailing in the Caribbean.

Currently, Tom works as an economic development analyst in Cleveland, Ohio. When he is not helping to save and create jobs for Northeast Ohio, Tom is sailing, learning to play guitar, or reading the next great American novel.

Ed Gerrish

Ed graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Dakota in 2005 with an Honors B.A. in Political Science and Communication Studies. Currently, Ed Gerrish is an associate at Freedman Consulting, LLC. Prior to that, he was a Staff Assistant in the Office of U.S. Senator Tim Johnson and was a field organizer for the South Dakota Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign in 2002. Ed was also the campaign manager for a South Dakota state house race in 2004, and conducted research funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts on the effects of 527 organizations in the 2006 Thune/Daschle Senate Race. He was awarded the Harry S. Truman Scholarship in 2004.
