How to Save Money On International Phone Calls Without Using VOIP

What to do

  1. Visit Call2.com. Register for a free account with Call2.com by clicking on the yellow start today! button on the left hand side and fill out the resulting form. Call2.com is a service that allows you to make low-cost calls over real phone lines (thereby giving you better quality for Voice-over-Internet-Protocol).

  2. We recommend checking out Call2.com’s rates here. Make sure that you change the currency field to your local currency.

  3. If you want to try the service out, you will need to buy some prepaid call credit. To do so, log in to your account and click on the yellow Add Credit button at the top of the page. Follow the instructions to add credit to your account.

  4. Once you have added credit, you can make a phone call by clicking on the Make Calls button at the top of the page. Make sure the Web Callback tab is selected. Follow the instructions to have Call2.com call you, and then connect you to the number you are calling.

A little more

Here’s what you need to know: Call2.com is more expensive that VOIP services, but will likely give you better quality since it connects your phone calls over real phone lines.

Call2.com will still probably be cheaper than your normal telephone service for international calls. Call2.com is a great option for people who want to save money on international phone calls, but don’t feel that VOIP provides high quality phone calls.

Advantages of Call2.com

  • With Call2.com, calls are made over real phone lines (called PSTN lines), so you are likely to get better quality than using Voice-over-IP services.
  • Call2.com makes calls using your normal phone. You input your number, and then the number you are calling. Call2.com calls you, calls the number you are calling, and connects you over real telephone lines. So you don’t require a headset, and there are no extra programs to download.
  • Call2.com is prepaid - so you can set limits as to how much you spend on phone calls.

Disadvantages of Call2.com

  • Regardless of where you are calling, Call2.com is likely more expensive than VOIP services such as SkypeOut. However, how much more expensive depends on the location and type (landline or mobile) of number you are calling.
