How to Save Money If You Have Internet, A Cell Phone but NO Landline

(For US or Canadian Residents only)

What to do

Most people are not aware that Skype has made phone calls to US and Canadian landlines and cell phones FREE until the end of 2006. You can take advantage of these savings to cut costs on your phone bill.

  1. Get yourself one of the following:
  2. Set-up your audio equipment according to the instructions provided with your equipment.
  3. Click here to download Skype for free.
  4. Install the program, and then sign-up for a Skype Name and Password.

When you are near your computer and have internet access, plug-in your equipment and launch Skype to make free phone calls to US and Canadian landlines and cell phones (until the end of 2006)!

A little more

Today, many young people have internet access and cell phones but no landlines. They use their cell phones as their ‘main’ lines to save on telecommunications expenses.

We are all for saving money. The problem is that if you rely on your cell phone as your only line of communication, you have to keep careful watch on your minutes. If you go over your monthly minutes, you could get hit with huge overage charges.

Here’s an easy way to save on your phone bill. Skype, an online VOIP service, recently made all calls to US and Canadian landlines and cell phones free until the end of 2006, (but only if you are a US or Canadian resident).

So if you grab yourself a headset or Skype phone, and download and sign-up for Skype (which itself is free), you can start making phone calls through your computer and save your cell phone minutes.

Think of Skype like a ‘free’ landline at home - with the exception that people can’t call your computer from a normal phone when you have the basic free Skype Account. That’s okay. When you are at home, have people call you on your cell phone. You can always offer to call them back on Skype.
